Hardie Plank Siding
Siding Replacement
Many Lake Forest residents choose to replace worn or damaged siding with HardiePlank from James Hardie Building Products, Inc. The AEC has approved the following pre-finished colors:
Painting Your HardiePlank
The AEC has a strong recommendation that residents do NOT color-match against existing HardiePlank.
HardiePlank is a very durable material but its color will fade over time; often the more muted earth tones of the product will acquire pronounced orange and yellow notes due to sun damage. Over the years we have seen several attempts where a resident has matched new paint to old, faded HardiePlank, and the results have been a disaster. The house color ends up much brighter yellow or orange than intended or allowed under our deed restrictions and protective covenants, and this creates no end of headaches for the homeowner and the LFLOA.
Instead, the AEC recommends strongly that residents simply tell the painter or paint store which color of HardiePlank they are trying to match (e.g., Timber Bark). Any reliable painter or paint store will be very familiar with HardiePlank and will be able to match it easily; indeed they often already have the right color-match "in the system" ready to use.
